With Europe behind us in our Twilight 2000 campaign, and the vast expanse of the (Dis-) United States of America in front of us, I’ve decided to let go of my copy of Armoured Trains.
Not that I think it impossible that Maks may encounter weaponized trains in America. Heck, he might even build one himself. He’s already been on the receiving end of an armored train.
But I’ve got enough material gathered in my notes should one of these behemoths barrel into the campaign.

Granted, any armored train Maks and Company would find here in the states would more resemble something out of a Mad Max movie. Does beg the question though, you think it likely Civgov and Milgov have raided old railroad museums for engines and rolling stock just because fuel is easier to come by, or Would they still be rolling with prewar Diesel-Electric locomotives?

Yeah I agree the party isn’t going to find any type-built armored trains in the USA. But most historical armored trains were slapdash affairs anyway, cobbled-together with whatever guns, turrets, and armor could be scrounged-up.
I’m going to play CivGov and MilGov as prioritizing the recovery of rail transport, but ca. 2001 both governments are weak and localized in a few small regions around the former nation. So whether they use diesel-electric or museum coal-fired locomotives will depend on the resources found locally.
